The Devi name Kushmanda is made of three words that are “Ku + ushma +Amnda = Kushmanda”, here “Ku” is “Little”, “ushma” is “Energy or cosmic” and “Amnda” is “Egg”, meaning who create the universe as “Little Cosmic Egg” with the energy of her, is called “Kushmanda”.
When this universe was non-existent and darkness spread everywhere, it was Maa Kushmanda who produced the energy with her only smile. She is the only one who has the power and strength to live in the core of sun. Her body shines like the brighten sun. She is also known as “Ashtabhuja” because she has 8 arms. She has Amrit kalash, Gada and Chakra, Jap Mala in the left hands and kamandal Dhanush, Bada and kamal in the right hands in that order. On worshipping her, sorrows and disease are eliminated and life span, strength, name and health improved.
